Garden maintenance and Maintenance - growing Plants to create a natural effect

A sense of order and decorum is the feeling that most people wish their garden to give to them. Yet it is also desirable that the plants appear to have been there for ever; that they seem to belong. While the hard landscaping should create clear shapes and strong lines, it is the job of the plants to soften these lines and blur their angularity. In order for the plants to add a natural dimension to the composition, it's important to choose them judiciously and then to grow them in a certain manner.

Designing with plants for a natural effect

The most effective, natural plant associations are derived from species that possess as many visual features in common with each other as possible. Individuals that stand out from the mass in say shape, size or foliage color should have at least one characteristic that they share with the rest of the plants. Small leaved gold fine textured plants for instance, go well with each other, objective look incongruous with plants that have giant gold race textured leaves. Just think how dreadful Cypress trees look with palms, or how out of place pink bushes seem next to Philodendron.

Design and nature join hands in the sense that plants of similar growth habit and visual characteristics, almost invariably grow wild in similar or parallel habitats. For example, Pistachios from Central Asia, Grevilleas from South West Australia and Leucophyllum from Texas, all have the small, fine textured foliage typical of plants that grow in dry climates. While on the other hand, broad leaves and course texture are the most obvious features of plants from tropical regions.

Pruning trees

Some exaggeration notwithstanding, the most insulting complement a gardener can receive is to be congratulated on his/her pruning. The aim should be that the pruning is as inconspicuous as possible. In order to achieve this and thereby maintain the natural feel of the tree, it is important to:

* Avoid pruning cuts which shorten branches. Instead, limbs should be cut back to their base, whether that be another branch or the trunk itself.

* Avoid cuts which disrupt the direction in which the branch is growing. Let's say a thin branch is attached to a thicker one at an angle of 60 degrees. If the thicker branch is removed, then the direction has been altered together with an ugly pruning wound that will always be conspicuous. The tree will for ever appear "pruned" and not seem as though it belongs naturally to the landscape.

* Do not plant trees too close to paths and entrances, in order avoid inviting in the future the sought of undesirable pruning just described.

Caring for shrubs and bushes

Shrubs that have a strong and clearly defined shape like junipers, Yucca and other sculptural plants, should only be pruned in a way that does not alter their natural growth habit. Most bushes though require some clipping and pruning in order to encourage compact growth and to avoid an untidy and unkempt appearance. If carried out in the growing season, branches can be shortened, allowing the gaps to fill in reasonably quickly. Garden sheers and hedge trimmers can be used as well, but to maintain a natural feeling, the edges between the sides and the tops should be rounded out, so that the blatantly unnatural sight of angles is avoided.

How to make a natural shampoo of Yucca root

Different species of yucca - some of which are today known as Spanish bayonet, Adam's - murky needle, Datil, Whipple or dagger plants - first economic importance are many indigenous tribes of the American Southwest. Pointed leaves, waxing furnished excellent fibre for weaving. Along the stems of flowers with creamy white flowers have been used by Apache as food and - most importantly for our purposes - the roots of the yucca provided many Indians with a SOAP shampoo and laundry natural natural.

Yucca root (called a mole) contain saponin composed, which has detergent properties and seems to have a particularly beneficial effect on animal protein fibre.

And there is no reason why you can not try SOAP yucca yourself, because the factory versatile - previously classified as Liliaceae, but more recently included in the new family Agavaceae - are located in the Southwest (and to some extent)(, to the Southeast), States-UnisAu Mexico and the West Indies.
Collection and making Yucca shampoo

Yucca root may be harvested at any time of the year, provided that the ground is not frozen. However, given that the regulation on the collection of wild vary, sure to check the laws of your state before starting to dig. Then, if there is no restriction on the collection of yucca in your area, select a small or medium size plant which can be carved without difficulty - even a tuft of young roots have enough for ten shampoo.

Then, remove any loose dirt with a stiff brush or old rag and use a small ax to cut roots into manageable pieces (size of the potato). Now, with a good knife sharpened the peeler, cut-leaved sundew extensions and the skin of the root, taking care to keep newly as clean as possible exposed surfaces.

Once completed, the pieces peeled to knock down into smaller pieces (about the size of the ice cubes) and use a hammer or a mixer to spray these pieces of root into a paste. When the mush has changed color from white to pale yellow, the new shampoo is ready to be used, dried or frozen (Yucca remains well preserved, where one of the two methods).

Storage of natural shampoo

If you want to sun-dry roots, disseminate materials finely on a clean surface and leave in direct sun light until all moisture is evaporated. (When meat juice is more sticky and sponge - but it feels kind of creaking - it is dry enough to be stored).

Kiln drying, in contrast, only a thin layer of dough on a tray and cook at low temperatures (ranging from 225-250 degrees Fahrenheit) for an hour or two cooking. (Drying time may vary from one batch to another, so check frequently). Finally, but dry yucca, be sure to store the particles in a cool and breezy.

E ' can also freeze a future supply of root of soap, and this can be done at any stage of the preparation of the root. Simply seal the dough in a container sealed and thawed prior to final use or treatment.

There is a word of caution concerning the yucca shampoo, however: as with any new substance, don't forget to do a test to verify before washing your hair with the pulp of allergic reactions. Although anthropologists recorded that yucca roots have been used by native Americans for bathing the whole body (and mothers Walapai also wash their babies with the foam of a people young yucca every day for a week after birth)Once I used the root as a material cleaning face and found that my skin is irritated, but I have had no negative effect of shampoo with substance.

When you're ready for the yucca groped hairwash, that your hands (and sink) are free of fat (or other roots not foam), and then run a few centimeters of water in your dock, add at least a handful of dough and shake the water around vigorously. (Could be place - alternately - the pulp and a little ' of the water in a blender for a few seconds and pour into the sparkling performance in the sink.)
Healthy, shiny hair

After you get a lot of foam, fill the sink with water and remove the float of pulp. (Or, if you do not use the mixer to make foam, you can avoid having to strain water for all by simply inserting the roots to be lathered in a cheesecloth bag.) Then just wash and rinse the hair as usual. You will be satisfied with the way in which this cleaner natural leaves hair silky, shiny, healthy and clean!

How your plants in the Style of House

It is rather surprising the number of people who will purchase a plant inside of a nursery and then to leave them in the pot in plastic, as they came. So, what is wrong with that? Simple! These pots were not designed to be permanent homes for the plants. Indoor plants require appropriate containers that allow room for their root system to expand and develop.

The terracotta Pot

The most commonly used domestic plant pot is made of terra cotta, which means "clay". This style of pot is made of clay that has a high nutrient content. Clay is formed into the desired shape and fired in a kiln. If the left unpainted, the pot is a rich orange colour. These jars can be granted to a single treatment of painted by you. Alternatively, you can buy a wide range of pre-glazed pots. Most of the pots have a central drainage hole in the base of the pot, so you will need also a corresponding saucer to catch any overflow of water in the pot.

Robust, strong ceramic

A ceramic pot is not glazed is not the same appealing qualities as cooked a pot of Earth. The glaze adds to the strength and durability of ceramics while being decorative. There is a huge range of styles, sizes and colors of ceramic pots available with the purchase of a number of specialty stores, including nurseries and craft stores. Because many of these pots do not come from a drain hole, it is wise to choose their only for plants that require no drainage.

Resin or plastic materials

Worried about breaks? An alternative to the terra cotta, or ceramic, resin or solid and flexible plastic pots are manufactured with moulds special to create a wide range of styles, shapes, sizes and colors. Flexibility and the ability to be coloured in an almost infinite range of shades of resin allows you to choose a pot on the decoration of your home.

Galvanize yourself

Galvanized metal containers are ideal for the person who is willing to achieve a relaxed atmosphere "countries" in their home. The galvanizing process prevents the pot of rust. While there are specially designed pot for galvanized plants, you can consider hunting around a really "rustic" exhibit as a bathtub or a bucket. The advantage of these pots is that drainage holes can be drilled as necessary in the base and a plateau positioned under it to catch the overflow.

So you can see that there are many styles of "houses" for your new plants such as for example the yucca plant, then do not hesitate to buy the pot at the same time as the plant. You will have no excuse then for "rehousing" do not plant!

Including vine Kangaroo Marantus Panadus and prayer house plants

If you have many plants, probably most of them is considered as foliage plants. Unlike flowering plants, they are not also showy. Instead they composed for it by easily and quickly growth and company themselves well in any environment in which they are placed.

Foliage plants are an important part of any home or garden. With very few exceptions, they grow and flourish throughout the year, unlike most of the varieties of flowers. There are hundreds of different types of foliage plants, including many hybrids and varieties, which can add interest to your garden.

Gardeners can choose an almost infinite range of size, shape, the shape of the leaf and color when choosing plants. Many of them are found in a nursery and can be grown in any part of the country.

For example, the Kangaroo vine is recognizable by its long, narrow, shiny leaves are heart-shaped with serrated edges. This plant grows to three feet high and best in windows-oriented East or West.

Another example, Maranta, is sometimes called the prayer plant. It is the shape of its leaves, almost overnight. It is a small plant, usually remain under one foot tall. The leaves are a nice green, covered with spots of diamond-shapes. These spots are beginning to purple when the leaves are young, turning brown as they age. These plants require a humid atmosphere, so you must spray them with water regularly, and they do best in a window of the East or West. They should be fertilized frequently and keep well watered, if you plan to grow. If you want to grow more, they can be multiplied with leaf cuttings.

Pandanus are another type of foliage plant that grows well in many climates. However, make sure you select a species appropriate, as some may grow to fifty feet tall or more. Others were grown for the growth of home. The popular name of pine screw includes types grown at home and those who live in the natural state. These plants have sword leaves that grow in spirals to a common base. They are narrow and can reach up to three feet long in the variety of Interior plant. The leaves are green dark, with silver or red streaks at the base. The edges of leaves are spiny, and they have sharp points. Pandanus grow best when kept as moist as possible, so you should take care of them water often, as well as spraying their leaves. State totake care of Pandanus that they must be stored in partial shade that they can tolerate a warm atmosphere, and they enjoy the Eastern or Western windows. Panadus can be grown by cutting suckers at the base and their roots in the new Earth.

As you can see, there are many choices when it comes to foliage plants. Most is easy to grow and can provide an interesting variety.

Information on dog careto know about

Pets such as dogs provides owners with unlimited love and unconditional love. They are considered members of the family. Like humans, dogs require regular review to ensure you that it is happy and healthy.

There are also things that dog owner can do to make sure their pet is getting the best care. Often, dogs getting dirty and need for regular cleaning and bath. On a weekly basis, should be brushed teeth of a dog, and washed his containers of plate and water. If left unattended, can lead to painful decay and parasitic and bacterial infections.

Puppies and senior dogs are susceptible to colds, so their time spent outdoors must be brief during the winter months. In addition, when temperatures fall, their sense of smell decreases, then they should not roam freely. Dogs, when the Ethiopian left, often emit a bad smell. The smell might also be due to excessive skin oil. Shampoo usually during a bath gets rid of the smell.

A change in diet also helps to reduce the smell. Dogs must be kept on a low fat diet, given that the excess oil trapped in the pores of the skin may lead to odour. Some foods contain yucca schideriga extract. This excerpt from the results of factory Yukka in stool and urine is odorless.

Tight security saves lives. Dogs should be limited to safety in exhaust test of kennels and behind fences. All dogs must have robust necklaces with tags and should be taken for walks on a leash. The outside world is full of cars speeding, unfamiliar animals, pesticides, and thieves for pets.

Each dog must be examined and vaccinated occasionally by a veterinarian. Diseases who are diagnosed early are often treatable, so regular examination by a veterinarian are very important. Even the healthiest dog can get sick, requesting immediate emergency care. Older dogs may be in the pain of age-related deterioration and need adequate care.

Lys South - Get ready for planting

Pink are best planted in late November, December and January. Many new varieties are not ready to the expedition after the first of the year. For the low South should be particular attention to the preparation of the soil. Roses do not like very sandy soils. Then, make sandy soils more retention by adding peat. Use lots of manure rotten fertility and humus. Peat or pine straw mulch.

DSL many are ready to regale plantation, centifolium, tiger, Philippine, many new hybrids, speciosum rubrum, auratum. Old lily stems that have finished their growth should be reduced to the level of the ground. Destroy them. Stems are often insects and diseases during the winter.

Perennial ended this period of growth. Clean moms, phlox and others by reducing the old tops on the ground. Burly to prevent the spread of pests next spring. Many perennial plants can also be set out in the South of the bass. Try the enhanced giant Shasta Daisy in size. It is the largest daisy, I've never seen. It is too bad that it grow much more to the North.

Dahlias - when the leaves become black and wilt reduce peaks a few inches above the ground. After a few days to lift the Tufts carefully with a fork pipped. Disrupt the clumps and leave at the top of the Earth for a day or two, if time permits to leave any excess moisture drain rods. Delete the tubers of dirt and pack dried areas, sand or vermiculite. Keep in a cool place (40 degrees) to the spring.

Annual Hardy seeds are planted better now in the South of the upper part. Plant enough later to prevent any from the growth before cold weather but enough early to germinate and begin very early in spring. This applies to sweet peas, larkspur, poppies, California poppies, Phlox drummondi and blueberries. Plant in beds of Tulip and Daffodil larkspur. It allows to hide the fpliage after the bulbs have finished flowering.

For the South lower ageratum, alyssum, arctotis, babysbreath, calendula, poppy plants of California, candy-tuft, carnations, clarkia, Blueberry, dimorphotheca, forget-me-not, Gaillardia, godetia, hunnemannia, linaria, linum, mignonette, Grande Capucine, n, pansy, Petunia, periwinkle phlox, poppy, carrots, Scabiosa, Snapdragon, statice, sweet peasweet william, verbena and alto. Texas include bluebonnets.

Flowering early camellias and anthurium flamingo flower in the lower South can be given their first meal late November or early December after they finish flowering. Use a special food camellia, a small handful for a 18-inch 2 books for a 4-6 foot - plant a subject of law.

Seaside shrubs - those who really tolerate salt spray and brackish water include raphiolepis, elaeagnus, pittosporum, ligustrum, yucca and century mill. Native palms are also good where the height is necessary. Other good for seashore planting in protected areas are: Callistemon, Ilex vomitoria, junipers, pink Laurier, palms, podocarpus, bananashrub, crapemyrtle and euonymus. In addition to the tropics, kumquat and calamansi can be included.

Natural medicines plants and the shamans of the Amazon rainforest part 2

Howard G Charing and Peter Cloudsley join the Amazonian shamans, Javier Arevalo and Artidoro in discussions on the drugs and spirit of medicinal plants and their use.

Rosa Sisa

It is a kind of calendula, and they are used in baths especially for children with "evil area." This disease occurs when a family member dies and leaves the unfortunate child and sleepless nights. The spirit of the dead grandfather - or whoever it was, drags and makes the sick child. Mind is sad go and rest at home after the person is buried and attempt to caress and comfort of people in the family. That makes them ill.
Rosa Sisa also controls vomiting in General, as well as in floral baths for good luck.

Generally an envious neighbor will be catching a handful of land of the cemetery and throw in your House to spread trouble and heavy feelings.
Yet again, when something is wrong in the House - people are bored or restless - you get a bucket of water and add flowers of Rosa Sisa crushed and Camalonga and wash the floors of the House with a brush to clean it.

Alternatively you can have flowers in a vase in the House for the same purpose. Many people them grows on each side of the door of their House to absorb the negativity of people who looks in enviously to see what assets they have. The flowers are black, but later they retrieve themselves.
Concerns may also be used to make vows, blowing with the wish in mind - as we do with a dandelion - because it is yellow, the colour of the Sun.

Manchare or susto (fright) are diseases commonly suffered by children and treated with Camalonga - a tree which grows wild in the forest, but many people grow it in pots of flowers in the city. It smells like garlic and onions can be macerated in alcohol to be rubbed on the person. In cases requiring a soul recovery would be a prayer or singing at the same time.

Usually a child gets Manchare reading in the trees and jumping to the ground and receive a bump much greater that they expect. In this case the Rosa Sisa is linked to a bouquet with a Ribbon white and brushed on the body of the head down. This is because the spirit returns through the Crown of the head. A small prayer is said to invoke the new spirit, using the name of the child.
It can be used in the emplasts for fever too.

Huairacaspi

It comes in two varieties, a high tree with a thick trunk and small tree slim with few leaves. It is the same tree as tornillo is good wood. The direction can be folded double without breaking and it is good to do yoga and flexibility in General.

It's good for the others, chronic diarrhea, hepatitis, arthritis, fractures and cold in the body. As a teacher plant, it is good to disorientation and the feeling of being lost.
After drinking, you need to take a shower, as it makes you sweat on all toxins.

Ushcaquiro

This plant is very little known and used. As chuchahuasi, discharge of mothers take care of their baby, vaginal cancer, cold, it is good after operations. It is prepared in water or alcohol. Painkiller.
Ushcaquiro, Huairacaspi and Chiricsanango together, do a good treatment for arthritis.

Guayusa

A female spirit and makes you dream of beautiful things and takes you lazy.

Albaca

It is good to have in the House, it works better than a spray aerosol air fresh because the flowers burst flower with a perfume. Also good for the floral bath for you to feel good to attract you many friends. Also if you have a line with a friend, they will be come back to you. Problems of gastritis, annex or bladder gale you can take it as a tea.
Even when it is dry is still smells.

Shimi Pampana

Is a root as a potato and a constituent of Pusanga. It's the (white) male and female (red) forms and flavours such as yucca. It is very good for people with excessive anger. You grate for juice and put it in the soup, coffee or whatever and sometimes it is secretly drink a person to calm down, especially when there is a lot to discuss family of. You can bathe in it too. The dry powder obtained from the root, the drying is good for burning sun, common in the summer, when the River is low and people are beautiful beaches to swim. Must be out impurities from the skin without he Mele.

New plants for the landscape

How many new factories have you added to your garden this year... i.e. plants that you have never grown before? Have you ever given yourself the thrill of the password through the pages or of one of the seed catalogues online and to order a package of this and a package that you have never tried? It "s incredible how many adventure you will find in the spending of a dollar or two." There is still time for sowing the seeds of many annual plants and see them flourish this year.

In one of the seed catalogues that I note lovely annual fragrant flowers that can be used as a House of plants... exacum. Another is the first blooming season - Rudbeckia, similar to the gloriosa daisy Biennale. Others are another red, Chinese forget-me-not, trumpet (Datura) annual flower Gaillarde, English daisy. It's a few annual plants, most of them in the catalogs since 50 years or more, but you can enjoy them if you have never tried them.

There is still time to sow flowers hardy, such as Salvia, Asclepias, Rudbeckia, Hesperis, snow Queen and chrysantha.

A watering system

Have you considered running a few permanent lines of pipe plastic three-quarters of an inch of the House out to the corners of the garden? A line to the bottom of each side running with taps spaced 40 to 50 feet should allow you to your place together with a length of 50 feet from the water pipe. It is important, unless you have pressure higher than the average of the water, to use three-fourths of an inch pipe for tracks that are more than 50 to 75 feet. Although the plastic pipe is supposed to be non-fractionnement when it freezes, is always well to exhaustible in low spots.

Plants with flowers in early spring, as the primrose, the leopardbane, the flowers pink azalea and others can be divided and replanted as soon as they are flowering. To help overcome the ethnic divide and transplantation, always cut about half of the foliage. It is always a complete fertilizer with soil mix. If it is hot and dry, the shades for the first week.

There is still time to plant deciduous trees with Evergreen if they will respect your climate. Because many are grown in containers or delivered and burlapped, they can be moved much later than bare root plants. Thinking towards the zero about weather, how we did enjoy Evergreen hardwood trees that were around our garden... rhododendron, pieris, boxwood, the different form of creeper of winter leaves persistent (Euonymus), firethorn (Pyracantha), Holly of America and the last, but be less respectful yucca but lovely. It seems too bad that some people are just a little snob, so that they can help to grow this yucca outmoded.

Nolina - a most special plant for a dry climate garden

Is there an ornamental plant which makes it a most beautiful sculptural silhouette and the more unusual, requires practically no care and attention and is extremely modest in its water needs? The answer is Yes! This is the Palm of the bottle, Nolina recurvata.

Nolina, due to its thick trunk and counter leaves long, grassy, makes a very strong vertical emphasis, in the garden, amounting to a few metres of 3-4 and after very many years more. Its particularity is the inflated base from which rises the trunk. On mature plants, this can be up to one metre in diameter and resembles something like a giant onion.

Requiring little water, the Palm of the bottle is ideally designs landscape dry. It can be planted in a bed of decorative stones, for example, or in a wood chip mulch and marries well with other solid form as Dracaena and Yucca plants. In fact it could serve as a focal point, or the dominant element in a composition based on the ornamental grasses and plants like grass. For example, it seems large floating of a low growing carpet "weeds" as Festuca, Carex and Liriope.

Nolina must be used wisely. It will step in my view with large leaved plants and of course tropical, but associates well enough with fins Trues. It is sometimes grown as a vertical focus in a carpet of flowers. Personally, I think that this creates some confusion, as the colour of the flowers and strong lines of the Nolina attention. Good design involves the exact relationship between a dominant factor, be it a sculptural plant or a mass of colour and a factor of support as a green hedge or cover.

Nolina recurvata must be on the more easy to grow plant. It is also close to being free maintenance as possible. Nevertheless, it has its cultural requirements, which must be carefully noted.

* The most crucial is the need for excellent drainage. It is preferable to underwater Nolina to the alternate it. For this reason, that it should not be planted close to plants that require frequent watering, as annual flowers. In such cases, the bulb is liable to rot.

* Nolina requires full sun, but can get by in the light shade

* Do not forget that this plant grows very slowly. As he needs room to grow, it should not be crowded out with competing species. As always, patience is a virtue!

Replant - best friend of the farmer a plant

Have done even that frame cold? My, how I wish I could try everyone by doing a cold frame, even if it was only a little his colleagues two by three feet. In reality three by six feet is a size better since the glass cello which you would probably use to cover comes from three feet wide.

He tack to a frame made of transverse bands of a by two inches with one or perhaps two bars to prevent the top of subsidence with the snow of the winter. If the rear of the image is a couple of inches higher than the front it will shed a little easier water. Tongue and grooved pine flooring is cheap and allows a good image. Dealing with the preservation of wood to help prevent rot. To give two good layers and should you run for five or ten years.

I like the front eight or ten inches high and, of course, a little higher than back. I put it right at the top of the soil in a sunny spot where water is not collect and do with it either to the South, East or West.

At this time (November) you may be digging your clumps of chrysanthemums and their deposit in the sand or peat in the framework, if you have trouble keeping their lives during the winter in the garden as with problems of yucca. In the four or six-inch pots and jars buried at their Summit in perennial new you receive too late to plant pot. Odd plants that give friends you can be the last minute that you lose if you planted in the garden planted right in the framework or pots, buried at their Summit implementation.

Many gardeners a part of their frames filled with seedlings pansy raised in August or purchased in September. One of mine is filled with pots of divisions of rock plants not for my own use but to give to friends. Several other frameworks are full of Primroses were not large enough to extinguish directly in the garden. They spend the winter in the framework and then out next spring. It's my auricula Primrose that seem to better winter within the framework of out in the open garden.

In General, large-leaved plants prefer a more shaded location. Get advice before you buy a plant in a good garden centre and describe precisely where you want to grow the plant.

2 Watering plants in the House: this is where most of the errors are made. Most plants are killed by spraying. Never keep the plant sitting in a bin or a pot filled with water during a long period of time.

3. At what frequency should water? The best way to know if a plant needs water is to feel with your fingers. Touch the compost at the Summit. If it feels dry, you have to water. Not water the plant if the compost is feeling or wet. Reduce watering during winter ranges.

5 Food plants: many people forget to feed their plants. The result is very poor-looking plants with little growth and no flowers. Feed your plants from home at least every two weeks during the growing season (April to September). An a stream once every six weeks in the winter is sufficient for most indoor plants.

6. Use a house general purpose plant food and it dilute the instructions on the label. It does not really matter if it is a powder, liquid or organic. Use everything that you and your plants are satisfied. The key is that you do not use a fertilizer! Flowering house plants have a high potash fertilizer as food of tomato.

7. Domestic plants such as fresh air. Air rooms frequently especially if you're a heavy smoker.

8 Re-potting of plants: depending on the size of the pot and the growth of your plant, it will have to be re potted or it will become bound pot. If you see roots coming out at the bottom of the pot or root-ball is composed of the roots only, it is time to do so.

9 Air humidity: most plants thrive if humidity levels are approximately 50-60%. To achieve this goal, you can spray your plants regularly with water or place them on a pebble tray is filled with water.

10 Choose easy plants: especially if you are a beginner, it is wise to choose plants that are easy to grow and are forgiving if you make mistakes. The spider, yucca, Dracaeneas, maternal right, Philodendron or Devil's Ivy plants are examples for easy indoor plants.

Wing plantations - how to use whal i mean

If your home is rather broad or your very narrow lot and there are only a few feet left between the end of the House and the property line, you will be unable to do much planting to soften the architectural lines. However, when there is more space on one or the other or both sides of the House, you must extend the planting of Foundation to add "wings" of the plant material to the building.

The object of a plantation of wing is to make the House low and broader and give it the appearance of greater stability. This is the case with ranch-style homes. A plantation of wing can be cleverly placed to act as a screen to obstruct the view of passers-by. This type of testing is a means of effectively separating the public area of the private space.

It is recommended that, whenever possible, leave some exposed House Foundation. It is now generally considered as continuous Foundation planting if common around modern homes is a hangover from the old days when foundations were three or more feet in height and therefore have been awkward and ugly to look at.

The normal and correct procedure in such cases was the Foundation together with shrubs such as plant yucca softof the screen. You should do the same if your home has an inordinately high Foundation that we use for years in the design of House.

The more modern houses, however, have very weak foundations and, sometimes, no visible Foundation. In addition, houses have "grown smaller" outside through more efficient use of space inside, and it is therefore wise to allow some of the building between the corner plantations and entry to show through. This creates the illusion of a larger size. It is also more pleasant aesthetically most of the time to have the green lawn and running right up to the House.
